Dresses Part One

Hello - It's Elizabeth the Asst.

I love looking for wedding dresses. I love the new styles and I hope to see some for this spring and summer. I'd love to see a few new colors used - the one to the left is a David's Bridal in Mystic Purple and the one to the right is a $215 Vineyard Collection Bridesmaid dress - I love the color! I can see it with yellow or pink, or even lavender for spring or add red to it for a wintery feel. There are so many great designers out there so check back for a blog featuring their gowns and bridesmaid choices!

Dresses by David's Bridal

Through the years many of our brides have chosen David's Bridal for their dresses. Whether their choice is made because of the price, availability of locations, or selection choices, we have found that the dresses in the David's Bridal salon have been outstanding choices for weddings. Don't get me wrong, we love many of the different designers!! But I have to give credit where credit is due, many of our brides come from smaller towns and they have been able to find this salon fairly easily when they go shopping for their bridal gowns. I do not know anything about how their alterations went, or the customer service, but from a wedding service/planner/photography standpoint, the dresses we have seen have been beautiful. Some of our brides have chosen bridesmaid gowns from there as well, so we are very familiar with the different color selections for bridesmaids since we need to be able to match them for their flowers. Gorgeous up to date colors....I especially like Cognac, Apple Red and Pool. You will notice those colors have nothing to do with each other!!!
Anyway, dress style are great, flattering and fun. So check out David's Bridal.....and we will talk about other dress designers in another blog!

Wedding Colors

Hello, it's Elizabeth - the assistant.

I am really hoping someone will be daring this year and try silver and yellow. I wasn't sure if I'd like the choice of colors at first, but I've decided the yellow and gray work well togather. We've had yellow and purple, yellow and teal, yellow and pink and of course, yellows and oranges during autumn. I still want to see pink and poppy. Red and pink look so pretty together. I enjoy the bright colors - they stand out amazing in pictures.
We need more green weddings. People don't use the color enough. Green and yellow, green and pink, or just several shades of green - it's so beautiful!I also love brown. It's so rich. Expensive. Very classy color. And black. Black and red. Hmm, so many colors, so many weddings.

Another Cold Day in the Smokies!

Well, good morning world, it is another very cold day in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. The thermometer at my house this morning said 9 degrees Fahrenheit.....that is pretty cold for Tennessee! And when I think about the fact that I was raised in central Georgia, and lived for a very long time in Florida, it is not exactly weather I am accustomed to. We have now lived in the mountains of Tennessee for seventeen years, and most of those winters here have been a bit mild. It seems that there has been more cold this winter, not heavy snow, not light snow (great for photography with my weddings or other customers), a little bit of ice (no fun...you cannot drive on ice even with four wheel drive!), just very cold. So when I start to think about those spring and early summer weddings, with flowers blooming everywhere, it just makes me happy! Seriously, I love winter time. Being able to experience the beauties of different seasons was one of the big draws for moving to this area so many years ago. And we have had some really breathtaking photography come out of weddings with snow on the ground. It just makes it a challenge to get to them!!! So bring it on! I am ready for the cold and snow!!

A New Year in the Wedding Business

I searched through files today for more photos to use for promotion.....everyone really needs to see other peoples weddings so they can have an idea of what our photography looks like, the creativity, themes for weddings, colors, locations. All of this is important when starting your wedding plans. Pictures don't just show a record, they show emotions. In later years, those emotions that are so clearly evident in some photos is an important reminder of what marriage is really about. Loving, sharing, friendship, compromise, challenges, and daily devotion to the family you have created with a spouse. Sometimes this gets lost thru the years. Look at your wedding photos....refocus....remember. This is an awesome business to be in. We have been at it for thirteen years now, helping people start a new life with the one they love, and helping them to create the memories that go with it. So, it is January of this new year 2008, and every day of this new year I have been working with brides on their wedding plans for either this year or 2009. A new year with new weddings!! A great start!
